Welcome 2016

When welcoming the new year I find myself doing a lot of reflecting on the year that is coming to an end.

Most of the time it is analyzing what I did not do, what I failed at... left uncomplete and regret.

This year I didn't see anything but what I have accomplished or have experienced.

What a change of events.

Here is an excerpt from my Facebook Post on NYE:

Nights like tonight put me in a state of reflection. While cooking, which is one of my favorite things by the way... It one of the times that I find my zen, a meditative state and I can collect my thoughts. All I could think of was WOW what a year I had! I completed my first 5K, working on running my next one... I lost 102 freaking pounds... I met some of the most amazing people who I now call friends... I had several foot popping kisses like Anne Hathaway in Princess Diaries (same person of course ;)), he was a hottie to (shhh)...

I heard from people who I never met before all over the world who said I have inspired them...

I worked on building my credit score (I am very proud of this).... I cleared some long over due debt...

I began to challenge my ungodly fear of heights...

I learned to say "no" when something did not serve a positive purpose in my life...

I cut ties where they needed to be cut...

I learned that my voice matters and that my opinion is important...

By god I truly found my inner voice... I got to stand behind the 6abc action news desk and socialize with Cecily Tynan...

I got to speak to some very influential people...

Including praise and support from an author Melissa Hartwig who I owe so much too (her book inspired my life change)...

I got to learn kickboxing...

How to shoot a gun...

How to disarm a gun and a knife (thank you John)...

I got to light a lantern and say goodbye to a weight and armor that no longer serves a purpose in my life...which were all bucket list items...

I got to visit one of my former homes (florida), miss you... I heard from family and friends over and over on how inspirational, motivating and how proud they were of me (that hit home the most)...

I spent a week listening to the waves crashing, walking the surf during sunrise and sunset every day.

I was blessed with fur daughter, and I couldn't ask for better.

I got to ride a roller coaster for the first time in countless years... I was able to fit in seats, seat belts and other items which I knew as obstacles that are now a distant memory...(some of these are still left to go) Went to concerts (like always)

Drove through the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, to drink wine at Dave Matthews Vineyard, walked on the streets the band was originated and said a prayer at the grave of one of my favorite musicians, while looking at the mountains he now rest upon. (RIP Leroi)

I did planks at Devils Den

I recently took the title of "ugliest" (PC: most unique) sweater, hat and sock contest...

But most of all it's the memories with my friends and family that stay true to my heart. The new friends I've met along the way... And the knowledge that "I can... I really can... Hell I freaking AM doing it!!!"

That will last with me into 2016

Let's bring it on!

Can't wait to see next years list!!

Your dreams are within reach, lets make it happen in 2016. Cheers to you!

Laughter, Love & Light,

Steph
